Galaxy S I9000: How to Install Android 4.2.2 Via CyanogenMod 10.1 Nightly Jelly Bean ROM

 
Samsung supported Galaxy S series Smartphone basically runs with Android Gingerbread version. Now, it can be upgraded to Android 4.2.2 Nightly through an unofficial CyanogenMod 10.1 ROM (CM 10.1).

Note

Howto-connect repeats its to readers that it will not be answerable for any loss to the device during an update. The CM 10.1 Nightly Jelly Bean ROM works only on the Samsung Galaxy S I9000 device.

Requisites

  • The device is rooted and ClockworkMod recovery should be installed.
  • Download and Install Galaxy USB drivers on the computer.
  • Turn on USB Debugging mode
  • Ensure that user has done the process of all data backup like apps, contacts, settings to SD cards.
  • The Galaxy s device should be factory unlocked.
  • The battery of Galaxy S Smartphone should be charged up to 80 percent level.

Steps to update Android 4.2.2 CM10.1 Jelly Bean Nightly on Galaxy S I9000 Smartphone

Step-1

Download Android 4.2.2 CM10.1 Jelly Bean ROM on the computer

Download Google Apps package

Step-2

Connect the Galaxy S Smartphone to the computer via USB cable. Then copy both the downloaded zip files to the SD card of the Smartphone.

Step-3

Unplug the USB cable from the computer and power off the Smartphone. Next boot into Recovery Mode. To do so, press and hold three buttons (Volume Up, Home and Power) at the same time.

Step-4

In CWM recovery user has to perform the task of full data wipe. Then scroll Volume down buttons to navigate the Flash zip from SD card option and select it with the Power button. Now select Choose zip from SD card option again by pressing the Power button.

Step-5

Then search for Jelly Bean ROM zip file on the SD card and choose it tapping the power button.  Next, a confirmation screen prompts on the screen and tap on the Yes option.

Step-6

As soon as the Cm 10.1 ROM is installed, repeat the step 4 method with the purpose to install the Google Apps zip file

Step-7

After the installation procedure is finished, go to the screen of recovery mode and select Reboot System now option. Then your Galaxy S smartphone will boot with new installed version after 5-8 minutes.

To check update CM10.1 Jelly Bean version go to settings, and tap on About phone option.
