Galaxy Note 2 N7100: How to Install, Root Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Official Firmware

 
While we discuss the latest Android Smartphone, Samsung Galaxy Note 2 N7100 is the best option for multipurpose use. Now authorized Android 4.1.2 XXDMB2 firmware has been rolled out for the device. This firmware can be updated or rooted or both through Samsung KIES and manually.

Condition

Howto-connect will not be answerable for any loss to the device during or after firmware installation. Users will have to start the process of update or root at their personal possibility.

Note to important Points before proceeding –

  •  These tips are not for any other Galaxy Note 2 device.
  • Download and install Galaxy USB drivers on the computer and activate USB debugging mode.
  • Confirm that your Note 2 device is charged with 80-85 % battery power.
  • Make sure that you have done the process of backing up all the essential data like apps, SIM contacts, settings to external SD card storage manually or using the integrated recovery.
  • The XXDMB2 official firmware is valid only for Galaxy Note 2 N7100 model. So don’t try tory tools for example CWM) or TWRP.
  • Make certain that Note 2 device is factory unlocked and not locked to a definite operator.

Steps to Update process with XXDMB2 Official Firmware

Step -1

Download both zip file and extract it.

Download Android 4.1.2 N7100XXDMB2 official firmware

Download ODIN v1.85

Step -2  

Switch off the Note 2 device and boot into recovery mode by pressing and gripping Volume up, Home and Power button at the same time. Then Samsung logo prompts on the screen.

Step -3

Next, go to extract the folder of ODIN flash tool on your computer and launch ODIN.exe. In recovery mode, start USB connection amid the Note 2 device and the computer.

Step – 4

If the Note 2 device connects effectively through USB cable then ID: COM boxes changes in yellow in ODIN window. This method performs in few minutes and it also displays matching COM port number.

Step – 5

In this step, you will have to choose the following flash files from the XXDMB2 firmware extracted folders. To do so,

  • Click on the PDA button and select the CODE file.
  • Click on the Phone button and choose MODEM file. Pay no attention to the step if MODEM file is not present.
  • Click on the CSC button and choose CSC file. Deny this step if CSC file is absent.
  • Click on the PIT button and choose the .pit file. Avoid this step if such file is not present.

Step -6

Enable to Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time options in ODIN window.

Step -7

Next, click on Start button to start firmware installation process. It will finish in some minutes.

Step – 8

After installing the latest XXDMB2 firmware, your Note 2 device will reboot automatically. Then the device will show the fresh Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean screen. To check current installed firmware version, go to Settings and tap on About Phone.

Steps to Root Galaxy Note 2 N7100 with Official XXDMB2 firmware  

Step -1

Extract both zip file after installing.

Download Android 4.1.2 CWM + Rooting Package

Download ODIN v1.85

Step -2

Turn off the Note 2 device. Next, you will have to launch the recovery mode. To do so, press and hold the Volume Down, Home, and Power buttons jointly, until the Samsung logo prompts on the screen.

Step -3

During recovery mode, start ODIN tool on the computer. Then connect your Note 2 device to the computer using USB cable.

Step – 4

If the Note 2 device connects successfully, in ODIN window ID: COM boxes changes in yellow along with the related COM port number.

Step – 5

Then choose the flash files from extracted folders. So, click on the PDA button and search for the file named cwm6-root-note2.tar.

Step – 6

Within ODIN tool window, enable Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time options.

Step – 7

Then click on Start button. As a result, the process of firmware installation will start and it will complete after 15-20 minutes.

Step – 8

As soon as the root process is finished, your Note 2 device will restart. Next, the home screen will boot before your eyes.

Now Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is rooted in Android 4.1.2 XXDMB2 official firmware.
