Windows 10 KB5016139 21H2 and 21H1 update

Here is the changelog –

Changes and bug fixes

Addresses a known issue that only affects Windows Arm-based devices and might prevent you from signing in using Azure Active Directory (AAD). Apps and services that use AAD to sign in, such as VPN connections, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft Outlook, might also be affected.

Attention: This problem only affects Windows computers that use ARM processors. Only ARM processors equipped devices are getting this out-of-band update. This is a cumulative update. In case, currently, your device is on any patch rolled out on or before 14/06/2022, you should install this update.

Symptom Workaround
In the condition when you have installed the edition using either a custom ISO image or offline media there will be a malfunction with the browser Microsoft Edge. The Chromium version of the browser will not be installed nevertheless the legacy will be eliminated. The glitch occurs when the ISO images or custom offline media are generated by slipstreaming this patch into the image without having SSU dated 29/03/2021 or later installed.

Attention – Suppose, you have added straight to Windows Update to receive updates the system would not have been not affected. Windows Update for Business is a demonstrable example.

To stay away from this problem, be sure to slipstream the SSU delivered on “29/03/2021” or later into the custom offline media or ISO image before slipstreaming the LCU. To do this with the combined SSU and LCU packages now used for Windows 10 v20H2 and v2004, you will require to unpack the SSU from the combined package. Pursue the following steps to unpack the SSU:

Extract the cab from the msu via this command line (using the package for KB5016139 as an example): expand Windows10.0-KB5016139-x64.msu /f:Windows10.0-KB5016139-x64.cab <destination path>

2.      Extract the SSU from the previously extracted cab via this command line: expand Windows10.0-KB5016139-x64.cab /f:* <destination path>

You will then have the SSU cab, in this example named SSU-19041.1767-x64.cab. Slipstream this file into your offline image first, then the LCU.

In case already suffering from this, mitigate it by straightaway installing the new Microsoft Edge. Suppose, you need to broadly deploy the new Microsoft Edge for business, navigate to Download and deploy Microsoft Edge for business.

Subsequent to receiving 21/06/2021 (KB5003690) update, some devices cannot install new rollout, for example, the 06/07/2021 (KB5004945) or later updates. You will confront the error message, PSFX_E_MATCHING_BINARY_MISSING. For more facts and a solution, see KB5005322.
The Snip & Sketch might not be successful to capture a screenshot and allow open through the hotkeys (“Winkey+shift+S”). This problem occurs after installing KB5010342 (08/02/2022) and further updates. The experts in the team are investigating and will provide an update later.
Once you install KB5016139, devices might be unable to use the Wi-Fi hotspot. When trying to use the hotspot, the host device connection to the internet might be disconnected after a client device is connected. In order to mitigate this and re-establish internet access on the host device, disable the WiFi hotspot. See the detail Use your Windows PC as a mobile hotspot.
