Here is the changelog:

Improvements and Changes

General

  • Windows 11 Build 23606.1000 is transitioning from Windows Speech Recognition or WSR to voice access. You might know that WSR is being deprecated. A dialog will prompt when WSR is opened instructing you to try voice access and we have also added a banner under Settings => Accessibility => Speech as well. Voice access, which is replacing WSR, is a new assistive technology that uses on-device speech recognition, enables control of your PC, and author text without an internet connection. The multi-language feature supports custom commands and will be made available to Windows Insiders in the Dev and Beta Channels through the upcoming release. The experts recommend that WSR users should try and start using voice access quickly.

Settings

  • The build started delivering a change that renames the Phone Link settings page under Settings => Bluetooth & devices to Mobile devices. Consequently, a new section will appear for allowing a PC to access mobile devices – this section currently does not introduce anything new yet a future build will arrive for this.

  • Windows 11 Build 23606.1000 ni_prelease fixed an underlying issue causing the details pane in File Explorer to take keyboard focus sometimes unexpectedly.
  • This rollout fixed File Explorer crash that occurs when accessing or scrolling Gallery.

Input

  • Also, the experts fixed a high-hitting tabtip.exe crash that occurred when trying to use pen input in the previous flight.

NOTE: Some fixes noted here in Insider Preview builds from the Dev Channel may make their way into the servicing updates for the released version of Windows 11.

Known issues

  • Subsequent to refreshing or when initially launching Copilot in Windows while using voice access, Show grid commands are necessary to be used to click in the Ask me anything box first.

  • In Windows 11 Build 23606.1000 ni_prelease announcements from the Microsoft Start feed are still shown on the taskbar after the feed is hidden.
  • After installing this update, the Widgets Board will itself shut and reopen when enabling or disabling feeds.
