Both Dev and Canary channels obtained a new update, Windows 11 Build 26100.1 without any new features, some bug fixes, and known issues. The same build for these 2 channels is a short-term arrangement as shortly, the Canary Channel will receive higher build numbers. As of now, several features may begin pushing to the Canary Channel first before the Active Development Branch.
Full name of the deliverance is Windows 11 Insider Preview 26100.1 (ge_release). Let’s see what is new in this build. Important to know that the 24H2 RTM base (build 26100.1) has broken 64-bit .NET framework app debugging (from within VS at least) as informed by Albacore on Twitter.

Changes and Improvements
General
- This is an important hint that the build watermark located at the lower right side of the desktop is not available in this build and will return in upcoming Insider Preview builds. As usual, this is a part of developing Windows 11 24H2 for release to customers second half this year. It is widespread information that Windows 11 24H2, is going to be a major release of this year. Fixes for known issues
General
- This update delivered one more fix to address the issue causing hibernate and shutdown to not work in the backmost builds.
- Furthermore, this has solved problems with some Insiders encountering error 0x80240067 when trying to download app updates from the Microsoft Store or Windows updates in Settings.
Copilot in Windows
- In this update, Copilot introduces the ability for Copilot to act like a normal application window, focus to “…” or refresh buttons when using a keyboard (ex: by using a tab to cycle through buttons) is resolved.
Windowing
- Windows 11 Build 26100.1 fixed a DWM crash impacting some Insider
Known issues
General
- Remarkable: The experts are investigating reports that some Windows Insiders in the Dev and Canary Channels are stuck on Build 26040 or Build 23620. The investigation is in progress, although if you are affected by this and want to get onto the most recent build in the Dev or Canary Channel today.
Copilot in Windows
- In the updated Copilot, Voice access does not function reliably which brings the ability for the tool to act like a normal app.
- Windows Ink will not work with the updated Copilot that brings the ability for Copilot to act like a normal app window.
- As soon as Copilot in Windows is docked and changed the width to large, the AI tool does not always fill the width of the panel. Changing the size of Copilot usually solves this issue.
How to download Windows 11 Build 26100.1 and install
Using Settings
- Navigate to “Settings > Windows Update” > and click on “Check for updates”.
- Once “Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26100.1” is downloaded, click on “Restart now”.
Through Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26100.1 ISO file
- Go to this link and choose Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26100.1 from the drop-down.
- Click Confirm and wait for validation.
- Once done, select a Language and click “Confirm”.
- Right-click on Windows11_InsiderPreview_Client_x64_en-us_260100.iso and select Mount.
- Double-click on Setup.exe from the next folder and follow the instructions.
